FAQ

What is online therapy, and how does it work?

Online therapy, also known as e-therapy or teletherapy, is a form of therapy that takes place over the internet. It works similarly to in-person therapy, but instead of meeting face-to-face with a therapist in an office, you can access therapy from the comfort of your own home or wherever you have an internet connection. Online therapy can take various forms, including video calls, phone calls, instant messaging, or email.

The benefits of online therapy include greater convenience and flexibility, as you can access therapy from anywhere and at any time that suits you. Online therapy is also more accessible for people who may have physical disabilities, live in remote areas, or have mobility issues. Additionally, online therapy can be less intimidating for some people who may find it difficult to open up in person.

Online therapy can be effective for addressing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship issues, grief, and more. Our experienced therapists have expertise in a variety of modalities and can tailor their approach to your specific needs.

Through therapy, our clients can learn to identify their triggers and avoid escalating their anger. Our therapists teach a range of coping strategies, including deep breathing exercises, mindfulness, and progressive muscle relaxation, as well as communication skills to help individuals express their feelings in a healthy way.

Our therapists also work to address any underlying mental health issues that may be contributing to anger management issues. By identifying and addressing these underlying issues, our clients can develop long-term strategies for managing their anger.

To prepare for an online therapy session, you’ll need a reliable internet connection, a computer, tablet, or smartphone, and a private and comfortable space where you can talk openly with your therapist. Your therapist will provide instructions on how to access the online platform they use for their sessions.

At the Online Therapy Centre, we take privacy and security very seriously. Our online platform is encrypted and HIPAA-compliant, meaning your personal information and conversations are kept confidential and secure.

The frequency of your therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and treatment plan. Some people may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may only need monthly or bi-weekly sessions. Your therapist will work with you to determine the best schedule for your treatment.

The length of your online therapy sessions will depend on your treatment plan and goals. Some people may only need a few sessions to see significant improvements, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. Results can vary, but most people start to see positive changes after a few sessions.

If you experience technical difficulties during an online therapy session, your therapist will work with you to resolve the issue. We recommend testing your internet connection and device prior to your session to minimize the risk of technical issues.

Your first online therapy session will likely involve an initial assessment where your therapist will ask you questions about your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. They will work with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. You may also discuss the logistics of the online therapy platform you will be using, as well as the privacy and security measures in place. It’s important to approach your first session with an open mind and a willingness to be honest and transparent with your therapist.

To make the most out of your online therapy sessions, it’s important to be open and honest with your therapist about your thoughts and feelings. It can be helpful to set specific goals for therapy and track your progress over time. It’s also important to actively participate in the therapy process and take any suggested exercises or techniques seriously. It’s helpful to schedule regular sessions with your therapist. Additionally, taking care of yourself outside of therapy by engaging in self-care activities, maintaining healthy habits, and seeking support from loved ones can all contribute to the success of your online therapy experience.
